In fact, most urban landscapes have soil that is greatly damaged. If we don't address this issue now, we may not be able to have nature within our cities. At NativeJax we help transform dead dirt into living soil.
NativeJax is leading the way to regenerate deficient urban soils; keeping in mind the care of earth, the care of species, and the return of surplus back to earth. We are here to help you make a positive impact by transforming your landscape.

The word Permaculture was coined in the 1970s by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren. Permaculture derives from the two words: Permanent and Culture. Permaculture is defined, by Bill Mollison, as "the conscious design and maintenance of productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of landscape and people providing their food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way."
Bill Mollison continues describing "The philosophy behind permaculture as one of working with, rather than against, nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless action; of looking at systems in all their functions, rather than asking only one yield of them; and of allowing systems to demonstrate their own evolution."
Permaculture is a design science that is meant to work with
nature to fulfill human, plants, animals, and fungal needs for a healthy ecosystem that is abundant and resilient. Through this holistic mindset a thoughtful design is formed which will heal the urban landscape and improve the health of humans, earth, and community. Permaculture design describes how to remove toxic inputs and replace them with appropriate natural remedies that will cure the problem instead of temporarily covering up symptoms.
A permaculture system requires little maintenance, attracts beneficial insects, and improves soil life for everyone to yield. This is especially important to our urban landscapes because these are the most toxic on underserved areas of the urban space.
Permaculture design is used to develop abundant resilient systems that include nature but also reach out into non-living forms such as business, community, and mindset. Having a permaculture mindset allows us to see past the dependence of big agriculture and business and truly see that we can co-depend on each other to fulfill all our needs locally, regionally, and globally.
Working together in a community sufficient vs. self sufficient style will connect human and nature living as one without loosing the way we are accustomed to living now.
